Alfred W. Adkins, age 77, of Dunnellon, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa.
Mr. Adkins was born in Branchland, West Virginia, on July 19, 1934, to the late Roscoe & Mable Adkins and moved here in 2000 from St. Marys, West Virginia. He was a retired truck driver and member of the Teamsters Union.
Survivors include his son, Mark Adkins of St. Marys, WV; daughter, Vicki (George) Lee of Midlothian, VA; daughter, Marsha Dunbar of Dunnellon, FL; brother, Shird Adkins of Inverness; brother, George Adkins of W. Hamlin, WV; sister, Leona Adkins of San Antonio, TX; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Thelma Adkins (3/16/08).
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 29, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon with the Rev. Calvin Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at the Dunnellon Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
