Here is an article about Jeff in the McKinney Weekly Democrat-Gazette dated January 1, 1933:

He was too old to serve in the ranks during the World War, but engaged in welfare activities, spending nearly a year in Northern France with the troops as a Y. M. C. A. worker. He is now afflicted with creeping paralysis or muscular atrophy. He bears his affliction with real Christian fortitude. He has been a lifelong Christian and worker in the Baptist Church and a man of admirable character and engaging personality. He sends his regards to McKinney and Collin County friends through the columns of this paper and especially to any and all of his former Company C comrades who may still be living. He wishes each and all the boon of good health, hapipness, and usefulness throughout the new year of 1933. It is an inspiration to be in his presence as he is a man of broad information and general intelligence on matters in general and has traveled much. His life has been one of unbroken Christian service to mankind.
