Janel Champagne, 45, of Brooks, MN, died of natural causes on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brooks, MN with Father Chuck Huck presiding. Pallbearers were Janel's family. Honorary pallbearers were Janel's Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews. Burial followed the mass at St. Joseph Cemetery in Brooks, MN.

Janel Rae Champagne was born on November 10, 1964, in Red Lake Falls, MN, the seventh of eight children born to Elmer and Theresa (Lessard) Champagne. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN. Janel attended school in Oklee, MN and graduated from Oklee High School in 1983. She then attended the AVTI Technical College in Thief River Falls, MN where she graduated with her degree in accounting.

Janel then moved to Warroad, MN where she worked at Marvin Windows until 2000 when she returned to Brooks, MN to be closer to her family, She worked at Arctic Cat until April of 2004 when she went to work at Digi-Key where Janel was currently employed.

She loved to spend time outdoors; she enjoyed fishing, and spending time on the computer playing games, emailing and facebook. Janel espeially enjoyed spending time with her family, nieces and nephews and great niece and great nephews. Janel was an independent, bubbly, happy, helpful and handy person.

Survivors include her sister, Kathleen Halsa of Thief River Falls, MN; brothers: Ronald Champagne of Grimes, IA, Jeffrey (Debra) Champagne of Brooks, MN. and Kevin (special friend, Judy) Champagne of Prinevile, OR and Scott (special friend, Teresa) Chanpagne of Crookston, MN; and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Elmer and Theresa Champagne; brothers, Robert and Kenneth Champagne; and grandparents, Amedie and Delima Champagne and Charles and Rose Lessard.
