Catherine, the daughter of the late John H. and Ella M. Rutledge Stovall, was born Oct. 16, 1929 in East Prairie, Mo. She moved to Butler County in 1937, where she resided most of her life. Catherine was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.
Catherine married Hurschel C. Alexander on Oct. 16, 1948. To this union five children were born. He preceded her in death on 1974. She later married Clarence Jennings, who preceded her in 2002.
Surviving are two sons, Hurschel Duane Alexander (Candy) of Republic, Mo. and Kerry Dale Alexander (Paulette) of Poplar Bluff; two daughters, Doris Faye Hays of Poplar Bluff and Donna Kay Wright (Larry) of Raleigh, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother Thomas Stovall of Mesquite, Texas; and two sisters, Viola Coonce of St. Louis and Nora Culbertson of Sikeston.
Catherine was also preceded in death by her daughter Dena Gayle Alexander, three brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral chapel with Pastor Chris Goodwin officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery on Hwy W, in Wayne County.
