Gladys H. Lien, 96, died Friday, December 3, 2010 at Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush, MN, with Rev. LeRoy Peterson officiating. Casket bearers included Kenny Kjos, Kyle Kjos, Nolan Kjos, Marlene Kjos, Lynnae Rasmussen and Richard Haugem. Burial was at United Free Bethania Lutheran Cemetery in the spring of 2011.

Gladys Helena Lien was born November 26, 1914 in Greenbush, MN, the daughter of Amund G. and Karn Ovidia Lee (Leishagen) Lien. She was born on a farm in Skagen Township, Roseau County, MN. Gladys was baptised and confirmed. She attended elementary school in District 1-A and graduated from Greenbush High School in 1933.

She attended night school at Aaker's Business College, Grand Forks, ND. Following Aaker's Business College, she became employed as a clerk in the U.S. Civil Service and Medical Department of the Army in Washington, DC in the year of 1941. She also attended the American University in Washington. Gladys retired in 1972 and then moved back to Greenbush, MN on May 26, 1997. She moved to Thief River Falls, MN and lived at Summerfield Place for several years. She also lived at Valley Home for a while.

She was a member of United Free Lutheran Church, Greenbush, MN

Gladys is survived by sisters: Hazel Carlson, Tallahassee, FL, and Ada Eide, Minneapolis, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Murie K. Lien; two brothers, Gilman and Andrew Lien.
