A funeral will be held Saturday, March 19, 2011 for 83-year-old William M. "Bill" Abbott of Perryville who died March 15, 2011 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City.
He was born February 6th, 1928 in Cape Girardeau, son of the late Harry H. and Elsdena (Sherer) Abbott.
He married Mildred Myer on November 4, 1950. She preceded him in death May 22, 2007.
He is survived by one daughter: Mary Theresa (Weldon) Valleroy of Perryville; three sons: Harry Lee (Jackie) Abbott of Oak Ridge, Larry Matthew (Helen) Abbott of Perryville; and Richard (Connie) Kirn of Mesa, Arizona; seven grandchildren: Tara Shah, Aaron Valleroy, Chris Abbott, Dylan Abbott, Christy Bockman, Lisa Abbott, Matthew Abbott, Bart Kirn, Michael Kirn and four great grandchildren; Lauren, Khalin, Jaiden and Madison Shah.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers; Benjamin H., Robert J., and Paul J. Abbott.
He had worked at Southwestern Bell.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, American Legion, V.F.W., and Knights of Columbus 1st degree.
He was a U.S. Navy WWII Veteran.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Friday, March 18th and 6:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 19 at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. A Catholic Wake will be held Friday at 7 p.m.
A funeral mass for 83-year-old William M. "Bill" Abbott of Perryville will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19 at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Milton Ryan will oficiate. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery with military graveside service provided by the VFW and Navy Honors Team.
Memorials are preferred to St. Vincent Endowment Fund or American Heart Association.
