Hal Stefanson was born Aug. 3, 1905, near Akra in Pembina County, N.D., the son of Sigrigeir and Sigurros Stephanson. He graduated from Cavalier High School and from NDSU in 1929. He taught vocational agriculture in Bowbells, N.D., and worked as an agricultural extension agent for Bottineau County, N.D. He married Freda Einarson April 18, 1934, in Mountain. He worked as an agricultural extension agent for Cass County, N.D., and served as an agricultural adviser in Iran, the Philippines, Tunisia and Morocco. He moved to Lake of the Woods, Minn., after retirement.
Survivors are his wife; son, Donald, Birmingham, Ala.; daughters, Shirley (Mrs. Robert) Morrow, Wilmington, N.C., and Linda (Mrs. Frederic) Smith, Bismarck; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Skuli, Grand Forks; and sister Christine Herzog, Cavalier.
He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
