Nancy Ann Caudill Fields was born on June 6, 1835 to James W. and Elizabeth "Betsy" Mullins Caudill in Perry County, Kentucky. She married Davis Stephen Fields on April 10, 1856 in Letcher County, Kentucky. They began their family with the birth of James Fields two years later followed by nine other children, Elizabeth in 1859, William in 1862, Henry Jackson in 1864, Lydia Margaret in 1868, Thomas in 1870, George Madison in 1873, Stephen D in 1875, Rebecca in 1878, and Mary Jane in 1880. Nancy died on September 15, 1919 in Letcher County and is buried at cemetery that bares her son and daughter-in-law's names. Her husband, Davis died in 1908 while they were visiting in Jeremiah. Because of flooding, the family could not return to Bull Creek to bury him so he was buried in Jeremiah at Nancy Back Cemetery.
