Harriet N. Barer, co-owner with her husband of Big Bear Stores until a year ago, more recently was a volunteer teacher aide at Orchard Elementary School. Mrs. Barer, 57, of 2706 N. Gregory Drive, died Saturday in St. Vincent Hospital of cancer after a short illness.
She was a member of Temple Beth Aaron and Yellowstone Country Club.
Born in St. Paul Minn., she was a daughter of William and Mollie Franklin, who moved to Bozeman. After attending University of Montana she appeared in stage productions in New York. In 1947 she married Charles J. Barer in Bozeman.
Survivors include her husband; her mother of 2706 N. Gregory Drive; two daughters, Naomi Perkins of Roberts and Miriam Meadors of 2510 Cook Ave.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary with burial in Beth Aaron Cemetery.
