BISCOE - Ann Lee Broadway Asbill died peacefully on Sunday at Autumn Care in Biscoe, NC surrounded by her husband and family after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's.

Ann was the daughter of Elmer and Sudie Mae Thompson Broadway of Ellerbe, NC.

Ann married Ernest Eugene Asbill on December 15, 1951 and devoted her life to him and their family for 58 years. Ann worked and traveled the U.S. and Europe with Gene while he served in the United States Army. Ann held many careers while raising 3 sons and worked as an administrative officer for 29 years in the U.S. Civil Service. She loved being involved in her community and church and was active in First Methodist Church of Cary for 28 years where she was a member of the Esther Circle and enjoyed the fellowship of good friends.

Ann and Gene retired to Biscoe, NC in 1999 and joined Page United Methodist Church and lovingly dedicated their time and energy to the youth program and the prosperity of their church. Ann was a lifetime member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary as well as the Ladies Fellowship Club in Biscoe. Ann's gentle, loving and generous nature, were apparent to all who knew and met her. Ann had a passion for her family and cherished her time with her husband, sons and their families. She will be forever loved and missed.

Ann is survived by her husband Gene Asbill, their three sons, Lawrence Eugene Asbill, Raleigh, NC, Roger Lee Asbill and wife Sherry Asbill, Cary, NC, Tony Ray Asbill, Apex, NC; eight grandchildren, Michelle Silver, Justin Asbill, Timothy Asbill, Christopher Asbill, Benjamin Asbill, Tyler Asbill, Ryan Asbill and Molly Asbill; 4 great grand children, Alexis, Blake and Chase Silver and Leah Kendig; one great-great grandchild, Jordyn McCoy and sister Lucille Broadway Thompson and husband Hugh Thompson, Raleigh, NC, nephew Tyrus Thompson and niece Kim Thompson Samaha.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents and brother Lawrence Hartwell Broadway.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 28, at Page UMC with the Rev. Kjersti DeVries officiating. Interment will follow in Biscoe Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Alzheimer's Association c/o Western Chapter P.O. Box 601444 Charlotte, NC 28260-1444, are greatly appreciated.
