Kandace (Pond) Oldroyd (1955 - 2011)

SMITHFIELD - Kandace Pond Oldroyd, 56, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family Thursday, Oct. 27, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 5, 1955, in Preston, Idaho, to Harold and Ruby Mockli Pond.
She married her high school sweetheart, Randy Oldroyd, in the Ogden LDS Temple on Dec. 17, 1976. Always together, the perfect team through all of life's adventures. She will continue to be an amazing example of faith, courage, humor, gratitude and service to her children, grandchildren and all those she came in contact with.
Kandace had many gifts and talents, one being her genuine compassion for others. Acknowledging this gift she graduated from Weber State University with a degree in nursing. With the knowledge she gained she blessed the lives of patients at the John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz., Logan Regional Hospital and the Smithfield Medical Clinic before entering the teaching profession at Bridgerland Applied Technology College.
She shared her knowledge with those involved in the medical field. We draw comfort knowing that she was able to nurture and instill a sense of empathy, kindness, compassion and humor in her students. She was a master teacher. She loved her students and cheered their successes. Her second family became her colleagues at Bridgerland Applied Technology College. She adored this family and will cherish the many fond memories she made.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith and conviction sustained her throughout this trial. She drew strength from the embrace of her loving Heavenly Father and the pure faith and prayers of her family, friends, members of the Smithfield 20th Ward and the Smithfield 1st Young Single Adult Ward, where her husband Randy serves as bishop.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Pond; a brother, Jody Pond; her father- and mother-in-law, Ferris and Donna Oldroyd; and a niece, Keli Oldroyd. She is survived by her devoted husband, Randy; her children, Natalie (Daniel) Tueller, Nicholas (Monica), Brady and Bo; her grandchildren, Jaxon, Justus, Jace, Jett, Addisen and Isabelle; a sister, Tamara (Clair) Selley; a brother, Larry (Jamie) Pond; a sister-in-law, Melanie Oldroyd; and two brothers-in-law, Brad (Christy) Oldroyd and Bart Oldroyd.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at noon at the Smithfield Stake Center, 600 E. 120 South. A visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. in Logan, and Monday at the Smithfield Stake Center from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery.
Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.allenmortuaries.net.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Ali Ben Jacob and his compassionate staff and patients at the Cache Valley Cancer Center along with radiation specialists Matt and Jill and the Intermountain Home Health Nursing Staff.
Kandace was a valiant fighter up until the very end. Thank you for fighting this battle courageously, head on, with your infectious smile. We love you and will miss you every day until we meet again.
