Daughter of Jacob Watson Collins & his first wife, Elizabeth Rice Collins.

Osie was the first wife of Thomas H. Davenport. They were married on January 10, 1892 at the home of her parents, as announced in the Pickens Sentinel, edition of January 21.

A death notice for an "Essie" Davenport, wife of T.H. Davenport, was located in the October 31, 1912 edition of the Pickens Sentinel, and reads as follows:

"Mrs. Essie Davenport, wife of T.H. Davenport who resides two miles north of Liberty, died on the 19th instant, after an illness of two weeks, at the age of 33 years. Besides a husband she leaves eight children to mourn her death. Her remains were interred on Sunday at Six Mile*, Rev. B.C. Atkinson conducting the funeral. The bereaved family have the sympathy of many friends in their hour of sorrow."
* not buried in Six Mile, is buried in Liberty.

Her marker indicates she died in 1912; however, the 1920 Census for this family lists an "Osie Davenport" as wife and living with this family in Liberty, SC! "Mrs. T.H. Davenport" is also listed as surviving her father, J.W. Collins, in his April 1927 obituary...??

By that time, T.H. had remarried (on September 14, 1913) to a Rosa (Stewart?) Burkett and had another daughter with her; that daughter is Nettie Davenport Stancil. Nettie is listed as half-sister in several of her siblings' obituaries, but she was not listed as a daughter of T.H. Davenport in his obituary in Nov. 1938. Rosa's death date of 1982 indicates a divorce took place sometime prior to his death.

If anyone has information please let me know.
