John Larrick (1694-1782) and his son, Casper (1714-1801), Huguenots, immigrated from the Alsace-Lorraine area to New Castle, Delaware, and settled in Frederick County, Virginia, where Casper married twice. The name of his first wife is not known. His second wife was Elizabeth Sundown. Casper died in Virginia in 1801. Descendants lived in Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Kansas, Iowa, Washington, Nebraska and elsewhere.

Casper Larrick along with brothers John, George, and James came to America from the province of Alsace-Lorraine France. The family was very wealthy in France but left all behind and first settled in Ireland. The ship to America listed their last name as La Roque. They landed at New Castle, Delaware about 1755 when Casper was 26 years old. They proceeded to York, Pennsylvania where they settled but soon moved to the County of Frederick in Virginia. Their first land purchase was from Lord Fairfax before 1760 and under the name of John Laruck but a second purchase was in the name of Larrick in 1760. Casper settled in Stephens City, Virginia and then moved to Timber Ridge near North Mountain. A story passed down has it that Casper went deer hunting near the Indian Village of Capon Springs, WV where he shot a deer and the deer injured Casper. A Shawnee Indian girl by the name of Elizabeth Sundown found him and nursed him back to health. Casper married Elizabeth Sundown in 1772. He joined the Revolutionary Army in 1773 and served for three years mostly around Lake Erie near Cleveland, Ohio. On September 25, 1960 the D.A.R. dedicated a memorial to Casper. A pioneering businessman, H.G. Larrick founded the Lumber and Builders Supply Co. in Solana Beach in 1923, and it soon became the largest employer in the community's business district.
