Orus Clay (Bud) Steely, 94, of Mesquite, passed away on October 29, 2011. Memorial services will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Grove Hill Funeral Home's Chapel. Private graveside services will be held at Grove Hill Memorial Park. Bud was born September 20, 1917, to the late Charles Richard and May Tom (Bingham) Steely. Bud devoted his life to his family and honesty, humor, and strength of character were his legacy. Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he took great pride in his family. He spent many years as a Federal Government employee, most of that time working in GSA (General Services Administration). He and his family were faithful members of Pleasant Mound United Methodist Church and later Eastridge Park Church. He loved the outdoors - especially fishing, boating, and bird watching. He could be found often on the deck of the Lake Cypress Springs lake house observing nature and he enjoyed watching all sports. He was a great reader and artist whose paintings brighten homes of family and friends. Bud was preceded in death by two brothers Walter and Beauford, a sister Mary, and his beloved wife Margaret. Those left to carry on his legacy include a brother Tom, a sister Edna, beloved sister-in-law Mary Ellen Smith, two daughters Anne Beavers and Karla Olds, a son Clay Steely, four grandchildren: Jay Curtis Beavers and wife Tracy, Russell Olds and wife Lesley, Ashley Steely Jackson and husband Matt, and Patrick Clay Steely, and nine great grandchildren: Joshua, Benjamin, Riley Anne, Maria, Matthew, Amalia, and Alyssa Beavers and Jordan Paige Jackson and Carson Olds.
