On Tuesday, Nov.16, 2010, the Lord called His child, Mrs. Lynda Ann Banks, from labor to rest. She was born Jul. 25, 1957, to Barbara Brown Henry and the late Pernell Henry, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert Banks, and grandson Christopher Austin.
Lynda accepted Christ at an early age. She was a devoted member of Rivermont Baptist Church, and she served in the usher ministry and several other organizations until her health declined.
In addition to her mother, she leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Glenda A. Sparrow (Corey), of Madison Heights; a son, Christopher L Brown (Katina), of Lynchburg; three sisters; Veronica Perkins and Verna Henry, both of Lynchburg, and Sheryl H. Morris, of Durham, N.C.; two brothers, Pernell Henry Jr., of Richmond, and Langford Henry, of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Shaneshia, Ciara and Ashley, whom she loved dearly; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at 12:30 p.m. at Rivermont Baptist Church with the Rev. Aloysius Nowlin officiating and the Rev. Shawn Womack eulogist. Interment will be in the Baptist Cemetery. Her remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family is receiving friends at 2365 Mosby Ave. and 2419 Galts Mill Road, Madison Heights. The cortege will assemble at 2365 Mosby Ave.
