A native of Haywood County, he was a son of J. C. Burnette Jr. and Peggy Watson Burnette. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents. John loved his family with all his heart and his greatest joy was his daughters. He enjoyed working on vehicles, gardening, and mowing the yard. John attended Bethel Baptist Church and was a member of the Tommy Long Sunday school class.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 20 years, Marni Burnette; two daughters, Kaitlyn and Kortney Burnette, both of Canton; one sister, Kim Cunningham, and her husband, Kevin, of Newport News, Virginia; father and mother-in-law, Lesley, and Sharon Gaddis, of Waynesville; several nieces and nephews; and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at Bethel Baptist Church with the Revs. Dr. Roy Kilby and Scotty Patrick officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at 171 Mackenzie Drive. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of the arrangements.
