John Green "Johnny" Watkins was the son of John Green Watkins and Clarissa G. "Clairsey" (Turner) Watkins.

John's newspaper obituary lists his name as John George Watkins. However, his daughter, Antha, stated emphatically that this was an error, as his name was John Green Watkins! She also stated that he was named after his father, whose name was also John Green Watkins.

John married Mary Elizabeth Crews in Carroll CO, TN on Sept. 20, 1874.

John was a farmer. He also ran a "sorgham milling" operation, along with Jesse Francisco, which was located on the Francisco property, on what is now called the "Bear Creek Road," on the Carroll CO, TN border, next to Henry CO, TN.

New granite monument placed by a grandson in 2001. Old marker was placed at the foot of Mary and John's graves, to serve as a foot stone.
