Wilma Lou was born at home on January 31, 1940, in Mount Vernon, Texas. She was the youngest child of Morris and Euna Fuqua Lawrence. Wilma moved to her heavenly home, Saturday, April 6, 2019. She is in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loving family and friends who had gone on before.
Wilma married Chad Palmer on April 4, 1958, in Mount Vernon, Texas, at her parents’ home. They were married over 40 years. Chad passed away in August 1998. Wilma and Chad have two children, Dorinda Dawn Palmer Easley and James Louis Palmer, and Stepson Johnny Palmer.
Wilma married Lowell Daberkow on May 26, 2001, in Dallas, Texas. They were married almost 18 years.
Wilma is predeceased by her first husband, Chad Palmer; parents, Morris and Euna Lawrence; brothers, Lee Roy Lawrence and Clovis Lawrence. She is also predeceased by her stepson, Johnny Palmer; and niece, Candace Owens Pierce.
Wilma is survived by her husband, Lowell Daberkow, Mount Vernon, Texas. Children, Dorinda Dawn Palmer Easley and husband Michael of Mount Pleasant, Texas. Son, James Louis Palmer and wife Paula of Royse City, Texas. Daughter-in-law, Julia Palmer of Austin, Texas. Stepchildren Alicia Daberkow and her children Talia and Kezia Lowndes, Euless Texas; and Mary Daberkow, Wylie, Texas; her sister Lera Lawrence Owens and husband John, of Mount Vernon, Texas. Wilma is also survived by her grandchildren Jordan Easley and wife Natalie, their children Charlotte and Wyatt, Ft. Worth, Texas; Jarrett Easley and wife Amelia, their children Grayson and Lucas, Celina Texas; Jonathan Easley, Denver, Colorado. Sheila Benavides and husband Mark, their children Trent and Rebecca, Manchaca, Texas; Mark Palmer, Plano, Texas. Jamie Palmer, Melissa Palmer, Amanda Palmer. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and friends whom she thought of as family.
Wilma had been a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Dallas, TX; until she and Lowell joined First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, TX.
Wilma retired from SCI after 26 years and had worked at Grove Hill Funeral Home. She had also been a hairdresser since 1958.
Wilma’s Dallas, Texas, Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2019, from 5-7 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas.
Wilma's Visitation and Funeral Service in Mount Vernon, Texas, will be held Friday, April 12, 2019 at First Baptist Church Mount Vernon, Texas. Visitation is at 1:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Macon Cemetery in Franklin County, Texas.
