Funeral services for John Leslie Stribling, 14-year-old Ottumwa boy who was drowned Tuesday afternoon while swiming in the Des Moines River near the east dam, will be at 3pm Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. W. B. Friend of the Pentecostal Church. Burial will be in the Ottumwa cemetery.
The youth was born in Ottumwa, February 19, 1934, the son of John E and Iva Stribling of 2248 West Second Street. He was a student at the Fairview School, and was a member of the Boy Scout Troop No. 8, and the Y. M. C. A.
Besides his parents he is survived by a grandmother, Mrs. Sophia Goudy, Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by a brother Russell Edward Stribling in 1930.
