James Carl Stephenson (son of Alexander Fyfe Stephenson and Mary Ethel Lillard) was born August 16, 1912 in Lewis County, Missouri and died September 13, 1983 at Gainesville, Florida. He married Essie Marie Sawyer in September of 1933 in Lewis County, Missouri. In 1936 he began full-time survey work for the Missouri State Rural Electrification Association (REA) at Palmyra, Missouri. He later became the general manager of an REA co-operative serving a 4 county area in the “bootheel” area of South-Eastern Missouri. They lived at Sikeston, Missouri. After his retirement they moved to Gainesville, Florida. She died January 16, 2004 in Gainesville, Florida. They were members of the Baptist Church.
