Kathinka Christine Anderson was born on her parents' farm south of Moorhead, MN 7 Sep 1877. She was the youngest of four children born to her parents, Jens and Pethrine Eliassen Anderson.

Her siblings were: Ida C. 22 Aug 1870 – 20 Aug 1872, Anna Pauline 12 May 1872 – 13 Dec 1947 and Einar Ditlef 26 Feb 1874 – 12 Apr 1964 (Nellie Alma Young 4 Jan 1881 – 23 Feb 1981).

Kathinka attended grade school and Hope Academy in Moorhead, MN and graduated in 1900 from Moorhead Normal School. She taught country school in Perley and Shelly. She was confirmed at the Bethania Lutheran Church 23 Oct 1892 where she was a member.

In 1908 she traveled to Norway and lived there for a year before returning back to the Anderson farm in Lee Township. Kathinka went to Montana with her sister, Anna, and proved up a homestead near Columbus. She returned to her father's farm and continued to live with him and her sister. She was an amateur botanist and collected, mounted and preserved local plants.

She passed away at her home 27 Nov 1930 of a stroke. She was just 53 years old at the time of her death. Funeral services for her were held 30 Nov 1930 at the Bethania Lutheran Church where she was a member. Kathinka was unmarried.
