Arthur Melvin Christenson was born at Perley, MN 22 Jul 1905 to parents John E. Christenson and Selma Oline "Lena" Larson Christenson.

He had four siblings as follows: Ella Cecilia 16/18 Jul 1892-20/11 Nov 1992 (Rev. Harold Martinus Bueide 31 Jan 1894-9 Feb 1971), Selmar J. 18 Jan 1902-3 Aug 1902 and two brothers who died in infancy.

Art grew up and attended school at Perley. He farmed until 1953 when he went into road construction work. He moved to Oakes, ND in 1973 and to Grand Forks in 1976. He married Mabel Alice Granfor 19 Jun 1935 at Perley, MN.

Mabel was the daughter of Andreas Edvard Hanssesn Granfor (1846-1920) and Anna Marie Sofia Krogness Ronning Granfor (1870-1955). Mabel was born 2 Jun 1909. Mabel was the youngest of their four children: Mabel's full siblings were: Arthur Melvin Granfor 3 Aug 1898-14 Oct 1961, Bertha Amanda Granfor 18 Sep 1901-15 May 1987 (Elmer Raymond Kier 8 Mar 1888-23 Oct 1984) and Julius Hafnor Granfor 29 Aug 1906-10 Sep 1980 (Viola Lorraine Elseth 6 Dec 1911-21 Jan 2005). Mabel also had two half-sisters from her mother's first marriage to Andrew Ronning. They were: Helga Pauline Ronning 21 May 1892-23 Dec 1918 (Oscar Melvin Norgaard 6 Dec 1897-7 Feb 1955) and Johanna "Jennie" Albertine Ronning 21 May 1892-16 Jul 1980 (Severt O. Tang 26 Aug 1866-2 Feb 1945).

Mabel was baptized at Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley, MN 25 Jun 1910 and confirmed in 1924 also at Kirkebo. Mabel taught first and second grades at the Perley School for many years.

Art and Mabel were the parents of one daughter Connie Jo 13 Jun 1952-living (Stephen E. Hulst ca 1953-living).

Art was a long time member of the Bethania Church rural Perley, MN. He served on the boards of the Perley Farmers Union Oil Company and the Perley Farmers Elevator.

Arthur M. Christenson died Sunday, December 11, 1977, at Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services for him were held December 14, 1977 at the Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN. Rev. E. O. Stenson officiated at the service. Pallbearers were: Andrew Granfor, Julian Granfor, Bert Borgen, Robert Kroshus, Ralph Sorenson and Harlow Bergland.

Mabel passed away 5 Dec 1999 at Grand Forks, ND. At the time of her death she had two grandchildren.
