Gunerius Iverson Crosby (Krosby) was born 12 Mar 1856 at the Krosby farm at Oymark, Marker Kommune, Norway to Iver Jensen Krosby and his wife, Anne Christine Gothesdatter Krogstad Krosby.

He was the second of their five children. His siblings were: Jens Iverson Krosby 12 Feb 1853-1873, Anne Jorgine Iversdatter Krosby 7 Feb 1859-11 Mar 1847 (Nels Thorson Odegaard 4 Aug 1849-4 Jul 1917), Johanne Marie Iversdatter Krosby 23 Jun 1862-17 Feb 1883 and Brynild Iverson Krosby, a twin to Johanne Marie, 23 Jun 1862-7 Jul 1863.

Gunerius spent his early years in Norway where he attended school. His mother passed away when he was six years old.

In 1872 Gunerius and his father, Iver Jensen Krosby, set out for America, landed on the east coast and set out for Goodhue County in Minnesota. They farmed here for six years then moved to Rice County, MN and farmed there for three years. They heard of the rich land available in the Red River Valley of the North and decided to go up to Norman County where Gunerius homesteaded in Section 34 of Lee Township in Norman County. His father, Iver Jensen Krosby, lived with him and helped him with the farm work.

His homestead was nothing more than virgin prairie which he worked and farmed until 1892. He then sold the homestead and acquired 440 acres in sections 15 and 22 of Lee Township.

In the fall of 1899 the Crosbys moved to Oregon and he bought some land. His time there was short as he had sold the land in Oregon and returned to his farm in Minnesota by late 1901.

On 16 Jun 1881 in Elm River Township, DT, he married Siri "Sophia" Larson who was born 6 Apr 1860 in Nicollet County, MN near St. Peter. They farmed east of Perley. Their farm was on the banks of the Wild Rice River.

In 1897 a major spring flood occurred. Livestock had to be moved to higher ground as the waves of water flowed in. The water was well up on the fence posts. The water began to rise in the house and ended up 14 inches deep on the ground floor. The organ and other furniture had to be raised. Sophia had to walk from chair seat to chair seat to get around the kitchen. The water was just below the oven door so meals still could be made. Everyone needed to sleep upstairs.

In 1902 they built a new home with a concrete basement, steam heat, a Delco power plant and indoor plumbing.

Gunerius was an active community minded person. He was a member of the board of township supervisors and treasurer of the local school board. He also was a director of the Farmers' Elevator Company at Perley and was a shareholder of the First State Bank of Perley.

Gunerius passed away March 3, 1937 at his home. Funeral services were held for him at the Bethania Lutheran Church, rural Perley, where they were members. Pastor Thomas Anderson and Rev. Anders of Lake Park officiated at the services.

The children of Gunerius and Sophia Crosby were: Ida Christine 16 Apr 1882-24 Mar 1915, Julia Maria 1 Jun 1884-5 Nov 1984 (Jacob Mandius Olson 14 Feb 1879-9 Jul 1955), Emma Isabel 30 Nov 1886-2 Oct 1970, James 2 Feb 1889-23 Oct 1977 (Mathilde Ann Cowette 6 Aug 1890-Oct 1955), Gilbert 19 Aug 1891-10 Aug 1943 (Emily Othelia Baker 29 Nov 1889-7 Jan 1973), Ella Sophie 24 Mar 1894-26 Dec 1983 (Oscar Thomas Dean, DDS 17 Jun 1878-23 Jun 1964), Agnes Pauline 7 Dec 1896-24 Oct 1981 (Ingvald Larson 11 Aug 1893-1 May 1971) and Oliver "Norman" 7 Jan 1901-30 May 1929 (Margaret Anderson).
