Siri "Sophia" Larson was born 6 Apr 1860 in Nicollet County, MN near St. Peter. She was the daughter of Elias and Ingeborg (Selland) Larson. Elias was born 3 Jun 1814 near Stavanger, Norway and Ingeborg was born 3 May 1824 at Voss, Norway.

Sofia was the fourth of their six children. Her siblings were: Ole 1852-Jan 1896, Anna Christine 24 Jan 1854-unknown (Ole Lewis), Martha 15 Jun 1857-13 Jun 1924 (Anders Anfindson Houglum 27 Aug 1855-18 Jul 1951), Louis 9 Jun 1862-Aug 1920 and Nels 23 Aug 1872-Jan 1937.

Sophia lived in Minneapolis for a short time before her marriage and then went to the home of a sister in the Perley area in 1881.

She was married June 16, 1881 at Elm River Township, DT to Gunerius Iverson Crosby.

They farmed east of Perley. Their farm was on the banks of the Wild Rice River. In 1897 a major spring flood occurred. Livestock had to be moved to higher ground as the waves of water flowed in. The water was well up on the fence posts. The water began to rise in the house and ended up 14 inches deep on the ground floor. The organ and other furniture had to be raised. Sophia had to walk from chair seat to chair seat to get around the kitchen. The water was just below the oven door so meals still could be made. Everyone needed to sleep upstairs.

In 1902 they built a new home with a concrete basement, steam heat, a Delco power plant and indoor plumbing.

Her husband, Gunerius, passed away March 3, 1937, at their home in Lee Township. After Gunerius's death, Sophia lived in their farm home until 1944 when she moved to Moorhead to live with her daughter.

While at Perley she was a faithful member of the Bethania Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid.

Sophia passed away at 6 Jan 1947 at Moorhead, MN at the age of 86. Funeral services for her were held at the Bethania Lutheran Church, Friday, January 10, 1947. She had been a resident of the Perley area for about 63 years.

The children of Gunerius and Sophia Crosby were: Ida Christine 16 Apr 1882-24 Mar 1915, Julia Maria 1 Jun 1884-5 Nov 1984 (Jacob Mandius Olson 14 Feb 1879-9 Jul 1955), Emma Isabel 30 Nov 1886-2 Oct 1970, James 2 Feb 1889-23 Oct 1977 (Mathilde Ann Cowette 6 Aug 1890-Oct 1955), Gilbert 19 Aug 1891-10 Aug 1943 (Emily Othelia Baker 29 Nov 1889-7 Jan 1973), Ella Sophie 24 Mar 1894-26 Dec 1983 (Oscar Thomas Dean, DDS 17 Jun 1878-23 Jun 1964), Agnes Pauline 7 Dec 1896-24 Oct 1981 (Ingvald Larson 11 Aug 1893-1 May 1971) and Oliver "Norman" 7 Jan 1901-30 May 1929 (Margaret Anderson).
