Tilda "Tillie"" H. Kroshus was born 15 May 1886 at the home farm in Mary Township, Norman County, MN, just east of Perley. She was the daughter of Halvor Anderson Kroshus and his wife, Kjerstie Gulbrandsdatter Melbostad.

Tillie was the eighth of fourteen children born to them. Tillie was baptized at the Bethania Lutheran Church, rural Perley, 15 Jun 1886. Sponsors for her at her baptism were: J Johnson and wife, John P. Bjerkins and Maren A. Grover. On October 21, 1900, Tillie was confirmed at the Bethania Lutheran Church.

She attended local schools. She married Martin H. Ellingson 14 Mar 1914 at the Bethania Lutheran Church, rural Perley, MN. She most likely met and got to know him as he was a farm hand for her father on the Kroshus farm.

They were married about a year and a half when Tillie passed away 1 Sep 1915 at Fargo, ND. She was 29 years, 3 months, 16 days old at the time of her death. The funeral for Tillie was held at the Bethania Church, rural Perley 4 Sep 1915.
