Wife of A. Harvey Staub. Mother of Arlo William Staub(1895, Tacoma) and Mountjoy(Staub)Browning b. Sept. 29, 1897, Fairhaven, WA. Mrs. Staub is also listed in this cemetery under Mrs. A.H. Straub. Mrs. Staub died shortly after the birth of her second son. A. Harvey, unable to care for two small children, put Arlo in the care of a childrens home and adopted out his newborn to Luke and Mary Elizabeth (Loyd) Browning. The Browning's then naming the child Mountjoy. A. Harvey Staub then joined in the Alaska Gold Rush and was not heard from after.

Arlo remained in the children's home until he was of an age to be on his own. He was inducted into the Army at Waterville,WA on Feb.13,1918. He was in PFC Co.I, Signal Corp, Ft. Leavenworth,KS on Feb.21,1918, then transferred to Co. C, 303 Field Signal BN. He had a tour overseas between May 27, 1918 and May 13, 1919. In the 1920 census, Arlo, was working on the farm of J.W. Payne, in Dyer, Douglas Co.,WA. Later he was to have moved to Oklahoma and died at the VA Hospital in Lincoln,NE. A small obituary in the "Omaha World" indicated that he had no known living relatives.

Mountjoy grew to manhood with the Browning family, which included an older brother and four older sisters. Mountjoy married Imogene Briggs in 1919. They had two children, Eugene Russell (1921) and Joyce Irene (1927).

Research into Mrs. Staub's past has not unturned much information. I am the daughter of Russell Browning and Mrs. Staub was my great grandmother. The only other information I have is this photo of her taken in Johnstown, PA. There is no date, or name attached to it.
