He was born in Celano, Italy, on May 6, 1888, the son of Frank and Sarah Massaro Baliva.
Preceding him in death were three sons, Frank, Ralph and Evaldo; one daughter, Lydia McDonald; and one great-granddaughter.
Surviving are his wife, Assunta (Rosati); one son, Mario of Springfield; four daughters, Pea Kuhn, Pearl Davis, Connie Rath and Corinda Polino, all of Springfield; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services at St. Aloysius Church with the Rev. Joseph Molloy officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
