Frieda Adele (Stein) Knoop Urban, 94, formerly of Monticello

Frieda Adele (Stein) Knoop Urban, 94, formerly of Monticello, died at 8:05 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at the Country Care Nursing Center, Williamsport.

She was born at White Church, Mo., on Aug. 3, 1908, to Ben H.M. and Clara Adeleheid Dreyer Stein. She married Elmer Knoop in Glenwood, Ill., on Nov. 20, 1932. He died on Feb. 28, 1953. She then married Edwin Urban in Gary on Aug. 3, 1959. He died on Nov. 6, 1979. She married E. Harold Redlich at West Plains, Mo. on Oct. 26, 1981. He died on Nov. 4, 1992.

She was raised in Missouri and attended Peace Valley High School.

She moved to Gary in 1932, where she lived until moving to Monticello in 1962.

While in Monticello, she was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, where she sang in the church choir and played the organ for services.

She was a member of the White County Senior Citizens, White County Choir, Carroll County Choir, White County Hospital Auxiliary and the Alpha Nu Music Society.

She moved to Williamsport in 2001 and, while living at Country Care, was named 2003 Valentine's Day Queen.

Survivors include a daughter, Wilma (H.J. "Shack") Shackleton of Pine Village; a son, Dr. Donald E. (Dana) Knoop of Longview, Texas; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Five brothers and two sisters are deceased.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with a Christian Wake to begin at 5 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Church, Attica, with the Revs. Charles Kline, John Schultz and Don Williams officiating.

Burial will be at 11 a.m. EST Monday at Calumet Park, Crown Point.

Memorials may be made to the Country Care Activities Fund or the White County Senior Citizens Center.
