Oleanne N. Kristofferson was born 28 Jan 1846 in Norway. She was the daughter of Christoffer Olson (31 Aug 1815-unknown) and his wife Dorothy Marie Pedersdtr Hellsvik (born June 1808 at Nesna, Nordland, Norway).

Oleanne had two known full brothers. They were: Elias Andreas Kristofferson (10 May 1838-1925 (Agnethe Gjertrude Kristofferson 17/18 Jul 1836-ca 1919) and John Klaebo Kristofferson 23 Jul 1848-unknown.

Oleanne also had a half-sister, Pethrine Lovise Eliasson 1 Jul 1836-18 Sep 1892 (Jens Johannes Anderson 7 Feb 1840-10 Dec 1928). Pethrine was the daughter of Dorothy Marie Pedersdtr Hellsvik and her first husband, Elias Jensen.

Oleanne's brother Elias, also came to the USA and the Perley area. He was known in America as Elias Sundstad.

Oleanne married Ole Hovden in 1873 in Norway.

Ole and Oleanne came to America in 1878 and traveled to Moorhead, MN. They lived in Moorhead and farmed until the fall of 1880 with Jens Anderson south of town.

In 1881 land was purchased in Lee Township of Norman County, MN and the Hovden's established their home and farm there in the Perley area. Oleanne was well known throughout the Perley community.

Ole and Oleanne were the parents of four children as follows. John B. 25 Oct 1874-12 Oct 1962 (Leticia Moran 3 Jan 1878-6 Nov 1971), Christian T. 31 May 1877-27 Nov 1947 (Minnie Josefina Baker 2 Dec 1895-22 Jan 1969), Conrad Ditlon 15 Nov 1882/83-27 Oct 1962 (Clara F. Ford 1896/97-Feb 1972) and Anna I. O. 17 Jan 1889-8 Nov 1981 (Dr. Jarl Ferdinand Lemstrom 16 Sep 1881-24 Sep 1944).

Their son John owned and operated a mercantile business in Twin Valley, MN. His wife Letitia was born in Canada to parents Thomas L. Moran and Elizabeth A. McDonald.
Christian took care of the farm for his widowed mother and later farmed it in his own right. Conrad lived in South St. Paul, MN and worked for Swift and Company. Anna lived in Minneapolis and was a doctor's wife. She took care of her mother, Oleanne, in their home for several years.

Ole Hovden passed away 8 Jul 1901 at Perley, MN. He was 56 years old at the time of his death.

After her husband's death, Oleanne went to live with her daughter in Minneapolis. She lived out her life there. Oleanne passed away 11 Jan 1941 at Minneapolis, in her daughter's home. She was 94 years old at the time of her passing. Funeral services for Oleanne were held at the Bethania Lutheran Church, rural Perley, MN, 15 Jan 1941.
