Eugene 'Bud' Abraham

LACLEDE, Idaho - Eugene "Bud" Abraham, 79, passed away Monday, July 23, 2001, at his home in Laclede, Idaho. Bud was born November 18, 1921, in Mitchell, South Dakota, to John and Grace (Walker) Abraham. At age six, the family moved to Rapid City, where Bud grew up and attended schools.

Bud served in the U.S. Army for a short time during WWII. During his younger years, he worked away from home on different construction jobs. In 1963, he went to work for the Civil Service as a grounds-keeping superintendent. He retired in 1982 after receiving several awards.

Bud married Rusty Sweet on November 4, 1995, at the Laclede Community Church. The couple moved from Rapid City to Laclede in April of 1996.

Bud was a member of the Laclede Community Church, the American Legion and was a Past Governor of the Moose Lodge in Rapid City, S.D. He also belonged to the American Cribbage Congress, the Grassroots Cribbage Club and a Gin Rummy Club. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Rusty Abraham, Laclede, Idaho; his son, David (Mary) Harding, Arvada, Colo.; his six stepchildren, Bill Suchta, Laclede, Idaho, Rusty (Rob) Clayburn, Laclede, Idaho, Vicky (Ron) Elisalada, Moreno Valley, Calif., Robert (Cindy) Wootton, Renton, Wash., Ray (Raeann) Suchta, Phoenix, Ariz., and Ann Renfroe, Anaheim, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Coffelt's Moon Chapel, with Pastor Dan Moore of the Laclede Community Church officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park under the auspices of VFW Post No. 2453. Viewing for family and friends will be held Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Moon Chapel.
