Esther Ovidia Estenson was born 7 Jan 1906. She was the oldest of five children born to Gilbert Olai Estenson (6 Dec 1881-24 Jul 1967) Anna "Annie" Knutson (17 Dec 1885-25 Jan 1913) on the home farm in Hegne Township, Norman County, MN.

Her siblings were: Merrill Clarence 6 Mar 1907-4 May 1985 (Helen C. May 11 Feb 1908-8 Apr 1960, Ona Teeters,divorced and Ermina "Erma" Dech 1904-2 Dec 1998), Olga Rosella 9 Jan 1909-5 Dec 2001 (Cleo Sherman McGinnis 3 Jul 1904-4 Jul 1981), Cora Gladys 29 Nov 1910-6 Sep 2000 (John "David" Shelland 25 Sep 1908-6 Feb 1967) and Gilmore Alfred 8 Apr 1912-8 Oct 1974 (Marjorie Thelma Dahl 10 Mar 1913-13 Dec 1999).

Esther was baptized at the Concordia Lutheran Church, rural Hendrum and was confirmed there 17 Oct 1920. She attended Open View School which was a short walk from home as well as Wilson School and 8th grade at Hendrum. She did not go to high school. She also attended parochial school in the summers.

Esther's mother, died, when Esther was 7 years old. So Esther learned how to cook, bake and other household chores from her Aunt Emma Herbrandson of Hendrum. She served her first Ladies' Aid lunch when she was twelve years old and had made homemade buns for sandwiches. Aunt Emma was a great help at the Estenson farm when the children were small.

Esther married Paul A. Jacobson October 25, 1924 at the parsonage in Perley, MN. Esther and Paul first lived on a small farm in Lee Township, later moving to the I.K. Jacobson home in Mary Township.Paul was a general farmer who raised corn, grains and had a few milk cows and hogs.

Paul and Esther became the parents of two children: Paul "David" Jerome 5 Sep 1925-28 Nov 1986 (Donna Fay Strommen 11 Feb 1927-17 Jan 2004) and Helen Eloise 4 Jan 1930-7 Apr 2006 (Lawrence Gilmer "Larry" Moseby 12 Sep 1925-3 Aug 2010).

After Paul retired from farming, he and Esther spent several winters in Mesa, Arizona. After Paul's death, Esther continued to live on the family farm until July 1, 1990, when she moved to an apartment in Borup, MN. She moved to the Fairmont in Moorhead, MN in August 1994.

She passed away 24 Sep 1996 at Eventide, Moorhead, MN after a short battle with liver cancer. Funeral services for her were held at the Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN on Sept 27, 1996. She was 90 years old at the time of her death.
