Lillian L. Ziegler, 81, of Henry, Ill. died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at Heartland Health Care Center of Henry.

Lillian was born April 17, 1930, in Sparland, Ill., to Clifford C. and Mary Ethel (Watkins) Gibbs. She married George Ziegler on Jan. 5, 1951, in Henry, Ill. He preceded her in death in 2008.

Lillian graduated from Sparland High School in 1948 and attended Illinois Wesleyan for two years before she married.

In 1961, she and her husband purchased the Bradford Republican and moved to Bradford, Ill. They began a long career in the newspaper and printing business not long after the Zieglers purchased the Stark County News in Toulon, Ill. When they purchased the Henry News Republican in the mid-1960s, Lillian began running the Bradford and Toulon newspapers while George ran the Henry business. They also added the Wenona Index to their publishing business in the 1960s.

In 1973, they moved back to Henry and Lillian continued to run the Bradford and the Toulon papers until they closed. She continued working in the printing business with her husband until their retirement in 1997, when they sold the Henry and Wenona papers to their son, Doug and Amy Ziegler.

Lillian enjoyed music and boating on the Illinois River for many years.

Surviving are one daughter, Linda (M. Michael) Waters of Dunlap and one son, Doug (Amy) Ziegler of Sparland; and one sister, Vivian (the late Mel) Miller of Clarksburg, Tenn.

Her parents and two sisters, Lois (Gene) Manoch and Esther (Andrew) Placher preceded her in death.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Henry.
