Bertha L. Bowyer, 83

DELPHI — Bertha L. Bowyer, 83, a resident of St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi, died at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Home Hospital, Lafayette.

She was born on Nov. 28, 1918, in Lafayette, to Edmon and Anna Cripe Cheesman. She married William M. Bowyer in Pyrmont on Jan. 9, 1937. He died in 1996.

She was a former fountain manager at Kresge in Logansport. She was also co-owner of Bowyer Body Shop in Logansport.

She was a member of Pittsburg Church of the Brethren, now known as Living Faith Church of the Brethren.

She loved quilting and playing bingo.

Surviving are a daughter, Patricia (Paul) Kilian of Brownsburg; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A son, William M. Bowyer Jr., died in September 2002. Three brothers and four sisters are also deceased.

Visitation will be Saturday from 1:30-2 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Chapel, Delphi. Services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the chapel, with Pastor Nord Zootman officiating.

Burial will be at Pyrmont Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Activities Fund.

Arrangements are being handled by Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi.
