NEW GLARUS, Wis.- Fred J. Marty, 77, who served as postmaster here for many years until his retirement seven years ago, died Sunday night at his home here following a heart attack.
Born at Valley Falls, Kansas, Mr. Marty came to the New Glarus vicinity at the age of two. He engaged in farming and worked at the Bank of New Glarus before becoming postmaster. He was a member of the local Masonic Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Walter Mills, Chicago; two brothers, George Marty, Wilmington, Calif., and Henry Elmer, Monroe, and a sister, Mrs. Ed Kracht, Eagle River.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Swiss Evangelical and Reformed church here. Burial will be in the New Glarus cemetery. The body is at the Zentner funeral home here.
