The following information was contributed by Carole Nurmi Cummings, a Dutch descendant from the 1600s and a cousin.

▪ Jacobus Demarest was baptized on 23 May 1760 in Schraalenburgh, New Jersey [Current Day Bergenfield, New Jersey]
▪ Parents: Gerrit Demarest & Jacomina Helms
▪ Married twice. First wife was Sarah De Clark, daughter of Dirck De Clark & Effie Turneur. Second wife was Sara Smith, daughter of Captain Arie Smith & Grietje Onderdonk. They married on 15 July 1798 in Tappan Dutch Reformed Church. He was a resident of Peskeck (Pascack, Bergen, New Jersey) and she was a resident of Clarkstown, Rockland, New York)
▪ Jacobus Demarest served in the War of 1812.
▪ Aurie Smith, in his will dated 23 March 1812, mentioned daughter Sara, wife of James C. Demarest.
▪ On 17 April 1805 (recorded 22 August 1805, Bergen Co. V:91) Henry Cole and Mary, his wife, of Harington Township, conveyed to James G. Demarest of the same place, for £120, 8 acres in Harington Township, beginning NW corner John Concklin's land near his dwelling house. Bounded N by land of Cornelius Peterson; S by land of said John Concklin; W by land of Pake and partly by land of Samuel Pigret; E by land of Harmin Blauvelt and part by land of said Samuel Pigret and part by land of James G. Demarest. Signed by Henry Cole, Mary Cole (her mark). Witnessed by Garret Haring, Peter Cole.

▪ Aaron J. Demarest – Born 2 August 1802 – Died 3 May 1851 – Married (1st) 14 April 1822 Hackensack Dutch Reformed Church, Margaret Baldwin, daughter of Thomas Baldwin & Elizabeth Zabriskie – Married (2nd) 29 September 1834 Saddle River Dutch Reformed Church, Anna Van Blarcom.
