Daniel A Cripe, 73 an old resident of Union and Harrison townships died at 3 pm Wednesday of last week at the home of his daughter, Mrs Rosa Fink, 733 Garfield Ave, Elkhart. He suffered a stroke of apoplexy 10 days before his death.

Mr Cripe had lived alone on the farm at South West following the death of his wife in 1933, but went to the Fink home to spend the winter.

He was born in Union township on June 12, 1863, the son of Levi and Rebecca (Pippinger) Cripe. His marriage to Catherine Tschupp, took place Dec 15, 1889. She died May 2, 1933. They lived in Union township until their removal to the South West farm 25 years ago.

Surviving beside Mrs Fink are two other daughters, Mrs J H (Nora) Sala of Goshen, and Mrs Earl (Eva) Nusbaum of Wakarusa; a son, Harley Cripe of Ligonier; 16 grandchildren and two brothers, Oliver Cripe of Nappanee, and Francis Cripe of Goshen.

The funeral service was held at 2 pm Saturday at the Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren of which Mr Cripe was a member, and burial was in the Yellow Creek cemetery. The services were in charge of the Rev David Miller of the Union Center church, assisted by the Rev G W Phillips of the Elkhart church.
