Hedy Lou Peterson, 60, died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at her home in Berkeley, CA. She had been ill for the past several years. Her mother was at her side. She was born May 4, 1951 to the late Wm. Robert Peterson and Margaret (Peercy) Hay of Plainfield, IN. She grew up in the Oxford, IN area and graduated from Benton Central Jr.-Sr. High School in 1969. She went on to attend Purdue University for 2 years. Hedy was self-employed for the past 27 years with the exception of being employed at Fog City Leather in San Francisco and later at Import Tile Co. in Berkeley. She designed and created hand bags and various leather products in her studio at her home. She was featured in the San Francisco Chronicle in a "Handcrafted in Berkeley" article in October 2009. Surviving with her mother is a sister, Vicki Lynn Bonachea of Herndon, VA; 2 nieces, Beth L. (White) Weavers in Australia, Amanda C. White in Virginia and one nephew, Ian J. White in Florida. Also surviving are 7 cousins; Rick (Pam) Peercy, Ryan Peercy, Ron (Bonnie) Peercy, Wayne (Delight) Peercy, John (Pam) Peercy, Bina (Dan) Hutson and Diane (Tim) Muller. She is also leaving behind an enormous number of caring friends. "Remember The Good Times". Memorial services will be held in Oxford, IN and Plainfield, IN at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in Hedy's name.
