Frank P. Demarest was born in Rockland, NY He was married twice. He married Mary E. Knapp, age 21, from Clarkstown on September 10, 1877 at the Reformed Dutch Church of Pascack, Park Ridge, NJ. At the time of marriage he was a lawyer. He was elected Justice of the Peace in 1878 for Clarkstown, NY. In 1888 he was elected to the Assembly representing Rockland County NY. Over his career as Assemblyman, he had a checkered past being arrested/acquitted for fraud in 1892 again in 1902 and finally in 1904 for fraud against the township of Clarkson when he was convicted on Nov. 18, 1904; sentenced to six months and $1000 fine.
He married to Iantha Shakespear(e) Oct 1 1891 in Nyack, NY.
He died Sep 1 1925 in Westwood, NJ, while visiting his daughter. According to Demarest family records he was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery, Nyack, NY
