Ellen married Norman Aanenson on February 14, 1948, in Luverne. After their marriage, they farmed near Ellsworth. In 1949, they moved to the farm northwest of Kanaranzi, which was the Currie farm, until retiring in 1985.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne; and the GLCW. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, spending time with her family & friends and going to church on Saturday night.
Ellen is survived by her five children, Jane & Jim Nelson, Magnolia; Jean & Neil Hoven, Luverne; Bob & Kaylene Aanenson, St. Cloud; Sharlene Tutsch & Wayne Hillestad, Brookings, SD; and Marlene & Tom Kopp, Luverne; eleven grandchildren, Chad (Jennifer) Nelson, Corey (Jodi) Nelson, Susan (Travis) Nelson-Bullerman, Perry (Stephanie) Hoven, Staci (Brian) Mushitz, Stephani (Matthew) Busek, Jade Aanenson, Lyndsay (fiancée, Andrew) Aanenson, Jonathan Tutsch, Matthew (Desiree) Kopp & Melissa (Anthony) Sandbulte; fifteen great grandchildren, Taylor, Jaxon, Mallory, Tenley, & Makena Nelson; James & Jenna Bullerman; Camden & Gavin Hoven; Addison & Logan Mushitz; Katiana Busek, Nori Ellen Busek, Annen Kopp & Krosby Sandbulte; and a sister, Yvonne (Harold) Graphenteen, Luverne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Norman on March 7, 2003.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Sunday and from 9:30 to 10:30 am Monday at the Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne. Funeral will be 10:30 am Monday at the Grace Lutheran Church, in Luverne officiated by Rev. Ron Nichols. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
A tree will be planted in memory of Ellen Aanenson, by Sanford Hospice of Luverne.
