Harold Dean Slack, Sr., 71 of Oak Ridge, passed away on November 3, 2011 at Methodist Medical Center.
Harold was born to parents Glen and Pearl Mae Mull Slack in Benton, Tennessee on January 7, 1940.
He worked for Gassaway's Automotive as a mechanic as well as for BWXT at the Y-12 facility as a laborer. Harold was a veteran with the US Army and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Harold's life enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid sports enthusiast, especially watching football, dirt track racing, and NASCAR.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his granddaughter, Brittany Armes.
His survivors include:
Wife of 49 years, Arlene Kelly Slack, Oak Ridge;
Son, Dean Slack, Oak Ridge;
Daughter, Lisa Armes (Jerome), Harriman;
Grandchildren, Nicholas Armes and Wade Slack;
Brothers, Charles Slack (Judy), Coalfield;
McNoel Slack (Linda), Oliver Springs;
Sister, Patsy Gallaher (Allen), Oliver Springs;
and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, 8 PM in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with Dr. Steve McDonald officiating. The graveside service will be held on Sunday, 2 PM at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 – 8 PM at Weatherford Mortuary.
