Services for Edmond L. Schlechter, 80, were held this Tuesday at Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Los Angeles, CA. Mr. Schlechter, merchandise manager for A. W. Lucas Co., Bismarck, for about 40 years before retiring, died Sunday at a local hospital. Born August 22, 1895 to Friedrich and Margaret (Gall) Schlechter, at Fessenden, ND. He grew up there and served in World War I before coming to Bismarck in 1922. In 1962 he retired and moved to California, returning to Bismarck a few years ago. His first wife, the former Olga L. Kowal whom he married May 24, 1919 at Fessenden, died in 1963. On May 22, 1968, he married Ethel G. Carlson at Long Beach, CA. Mr. Schlechter leaves his widow; one son, James, Long Beach; two daughters, Mrs. Terrence (Mary E.) Baker, Virginia Beach VA and Mrs. Mildred Reigal, Long Beach; a stepson, Denis Carlson, Bismarck; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Art Wageman, Bismarck, and Mrs. Fern Murray, Des Moines, IA; a sister, Mrs. Laura Curran, Pine City, NY; 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
