WILSON SMALLWOOD BURCHFIEL

Wilson was born August 1881 in (maybe Jefferson County, Tennessee. He is listed in the 1900 U.S. Census age 18, with his parents, Joseph and Lisa Nancy(Blair) Burchfiel and syblings; Sister's Barsha L. Burchfiel age 19, Gertrude M. Burchfiel age 11; Brother's Oscar E. Burchfiel age 17; and Joseph A. Burchfiel age 14.

He came to Forth Worth, Texas before 1907 and married my dad's second cousin Lena Maude Slayton. She was born September 25 1887 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Thier wedding announcement, published ,1-7-1907 in the Fort Worth, Texas Star-Telegram news, which is recorded in the "Historical Newspapers" in Fort Worth Library says that Wilson is from Knoxville, Tennessee, but for several years has been a resident of this city. ....It also states that Maude is the daughter of P.(added: Perry) and A.(added Mary Isabelle Eubanks Collins) of North Fort Worth and for the past four years Wilson has been the manager of the Southern Land Company. The happy couple will be at home at 501 Hemphill Street.

Lena Maude actually was the daughter of Walter Davis Slayton and Mary Maybelle Eubanks Slayton Collins. Perry Andrew Collins was Maude Lena and her brother Walter Eugene Slayton's step father.

Lena Maude Slayton and Wilson Birchfiel married February 13,1907 in Fort Worth and she died March 31, 1910. Lena Maude and Wilson had a girl child about 1808 and she was named Wayneta Claire Burchfiel.

Lena Maude's death certificate says she died from a ruptered ovary, (Ovarian Pregency,) Peritonitison.

In the 1920 Dallas, Texas census, Wilson Birchfiel is married again to second wife Lucille, ( I think this is the Lucille Edwards living with the Collins and listed as a nurse/servent in the Fort Worth 1910 Census), and Wilson and Maude's daughter was listed as Juanita Collins-not Burchfiel.(spelling), who was born about 1908 was listed as a daughter to her step grandfather Perry Andrews Collins and her grandmother Mary Maybelle Eubanks Slayton Collins.
