William Cornwell

William (Uncle Bill) Cornwell, 75, of Peoria, AZ, went peacfully on March 22, 2007. He was an ice cream maker his whole life and is know for his delicious homemade recipe. He hiked the Grand Canyon 12 times and loved to ride motorcycles with his family. He was the best brother, cousin, father, uncle, and grandfather anyone ever asked for, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His cherished wife of 51 years, Ruby; daughter Connie Redford; son Wayne Cornwell; brother Dale Cornwell; sisters Ruthie Jo Logan & Kay Evans; & five grandchildren survive him. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Wed. March 28, at Glendale United Methodist Church, 7102 N 58 Dr. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc, 3300 E Sunrise Dr, Tucson, AZ 85718, www.mda.org

William W. "Bill" Cornwell, 75, of Peoria, Ariz., formerly of Burlington, died March 22, 2007, of complications from muscular dystrophy at Plaza Del Rio Hospice in Peoria.

Born Feb. 6, 1932, in New London, he was the son of Charlie and Vera Morrow Cornwell. On Feb. 26, 1956, he married Ruby Eileen Mace.

Mr. Cornwell was an ice cream maker working first for White House Dairies in Burlington and then for Borden's in Phoenix. He owned an ice cream restaurant in Wickenburg, Ariz., until ill health forced him to retire in 1990. He was a 1949 graduate of New London High School. He served six years in the Navy Reserves.

He was a member of Glendale United Methodist Church. He loved the desert and camping trips on his motorcycle. He hiked the Grand Canyon 12 times.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Connie Redford of Peoria; one son, Wayne Cornwell of Peoria; five grandchildren; one brother, Dale Cornwell of Bloomington, Minn.; two sisters, Ruth Logan of Lomax, Ill., and Kay Evans of Pelham, Ala.

A memorial service was March 28 at Glendale United Methodist Church.
