Alfred Gus McFarland, Tulare, retired restaurant owner and farmer who would have reached the century mark in Feburary, died in a local hospital late Saturday. McFarland 665 E Inyo St had lived there 50 years. He was a native of Sheridan Iowa.
Funeral services were conducted this afternoon in the hamilton peers funeral service chapel with the Rev Dillon W Thockmorton officiating. Internment followed in Tulare Cemetary.
McFarland is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mrs Irene McFarland, Tulare, and a grandson Ronald McFarland of Tulare. McFarlands wife died Sept 22 1956 after the couple had been married more than 60 years. A son Mahlon D McFarland died in January of this year.
