The following obituary was forwarded to me anonymously. It appears to be from a newspaper:

Services for John R. Henson were at the Henson cemetery. Roads to the cemetery fairly streamed with cars and other vehicles and when the hour came for the service, 1,000 people were in the cemetery. They came from all directions and from all classes.

Burial services were under the direction of the Odd Fellows Lodge with Rev. S.L. Culwell preaching the funeral sermon after the I.O.O.F. ceremonies.

Mr. John R. Henson was born in Blount County, Tennessee. He moved from there to Illinois in 1869.

John R. Henson married Miss Martha Whittenberg on 8 October 1872. The couple moved to Ellis County in 1876 and to Baylor County in 1882 locating on a farm near Red Springs. In 1899, they moved to Seymour.

Survived by his wife; nine children - Charles E., Will, W.D., John and Lloyd Henson; Mrs. Pink Haggard, Mrs. George Daniels and Mrs. Porter Fancher; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother; one sister.
