He was a life long resident of Columbia County, attended Evans High School, and was a member of Warren Baptist Church.
He was a master carpenter and built many, many homes in the CSRA and Athens, Ga. He was a great story teller and found humor in everything.
Hugh is proceeded in death by his mother JoAnne Rhodes and his father, Forrest Ayers, his grandparents, Hugh and Hattie Rhodes and Elizabeth Hoty Ayers and one nephew, Travis Padgett.
He is survived by his loving life partner, Teresa Blount, one son, Ashley, a sister, Thea Clary (Chuck), Grovetown, Ga., brother, Robert Timothy Ayers, Augusta, two aunts Faye Gray, Evalin Hanshew, many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be on Saturday from 1:00-4:00 pm at 210 Weldon Rd Martinez.
