Frank Lewis Watson was an artist, designer and draftsman. He was born 11 Mar 1871-1872 in Perry, Pike County, Illinois to parents Marion Stephen Watson (1847-1919) and Hester Ann (Beaver) Watson (1845-1920). Frank was their fifth child and their first son. By 1885, Frank's family had moved to Hamlin, Brown, Kansas.

In 1893, Frank attended the Cedar Rapids Business College, and was found to be a gifted artist. Two samples of his work were printed in the Western Penman magazine.

On 14 Nov 1895, Frank married 21-year-old Pauline Ganzer of Doniphan County, Kansas, at the home of Tom Wise in Brown County, Kansas. On 6 Apr 1897, Frank and Pauline's son, Bruce Watson, was born in Brown County, Kansas.

Frank left his wife and son on 10 Jun 1897, when Bruce was only 2 months and 4 days old, and moved to the City of Los Angeles. He was about 25 at the time. Pauline began divorce proceedings in December of 1897, and the couple's divorce decree was recorded in Doniphan County, Kansas 25 Apr 1898.

At the age of 28, Frank married 20-year-old Grace Birdeene Trask of Cornville, Somerset County, Maine on the 23 Sep 1898 in the City of Los Angeles. Frank and Grace had two children, Hester Dolly Watson, b. 22 Aug 1899 in Los Angeles, and Marion Richard 'Dick' Watson, b. 17 Jul 1902 in Los Angeles.

Frank died at the age of 31 years at the Southern Pacific Railroad's Arcade Depot at 6th and Central Sts., Wholesale District, Los Angeles, California. The cause of death was phthisis pulmonalis (tuberculosis of the lungs).

The Los Angeles Times newspaper ran the following, dated 6 Feb 1903:

WATSON-In this city, February 6, 1903, Frank L. Watson, aged 31 years. Funeral services will be held at parlors of Bresee Brothers, Broadway and Sixth, Monday at 10 o-clock.
