Scheduled Here
Funeral services for David Arthur Stewart, 66, former Provoan, will be conducted Thursday at 12 noon in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel. Mr. Stewart died Monday at Salt Lake City of a long illness.
Bishop Paul Brown, of the Fifteenth Ward will officiate at the services. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday prior to services. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
Mr. Stewart was born July 9, 1891, in Benjamin, a son of Charles W. and Mary Ann Arvilla Carter Stewart. He received his early education in Benjamin schools, and farmed with his father.
He married Edna Gardner, and and they made their home in Salem. They later moved to Blackfoot, Ida., where he also was farmer. They were later divorced, after which he moved to Provo, following the construction business.
On Dec. 5, 1952, he married Alice Bashe Miller in Salt Lake City. They made their home in Salt Lake City, where he worked at the Fort Douglas Golf Club for the past 5½ years. He was a member of the LDS Church, a member of the International Hod Carriers, a member of the Building and Common Laborers union of America, local No. 653. His hobbies were fishing and hunting.
Surviving are his wife, four sons and two daughters, Max Stewart, San Diego, Calif.; Rudell Stewart, Montana; Gale Stewart, Idaho Falls, Ida., and Cleon Stewart; Mrs. Wesley (LaVern) Jensen, Blackfoot, Ida.; Mrs. Douglas (Nadine) Gray, Idaho Falls; 18 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step-daughters, Mrs. Duane (Adelphia) Barrett, and Mrs. M. D. (Roberta) Ford, both of Provo; six step-grandchildren; four brothers, and six sisters, Charles Stewart, Springville; Nephi Stewart, Payson; Earl Stewart, Eureka; Ivan Stewart, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Thomas (Jane) Gates, Blanche Stewart, both of Provo; Mrs. Jenett Woods, Mrs. Stephen (Sylvia) Muir, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Mary Ann Persson, Woodland, Calif., and Mrs. Rufus (Hazel) Anderson, Benjamin.
