Age 90, passed away peacefully at her family home in Poquonnock Bridge, CT, on October 27, following a prolonged illness. She was buried October 30th next to her husband of 64 years, Belton A. Burrows, in a private ceremony at the Benjamin Burrows Cemetery on Fort Hill. Born in Newport, RI, June 26, 1921, she was raised in Buffalo, NY, and graduated from Columbia-Presbyterian School of Nursing in 1943. As well as raising six children, she pursued her love of art. Starting the 1960s, she studied with Barbara Swan and others, and as an artist, she had a unique way of seeing the world that was expressed through her artwork using many different techniques (drawing, oils, watercolors), and Mrs, Burrows developed a particular interest in printmaking. For many years she was a member of the group Partners in Printmaking based at the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, MA, having many individual and group shows, including one in Ireland and another in France. A resident of Brookline, MA, for 57 years and a member of the Church of Our Savior there, she remained active in community affairs, for most of her adult life, including trusteeships at the Park School and the Goddard House. She is survived by six children; Calvin,Warren, Ellen, Emily, Sarah and Allyn; 13 grandchildren, including a namesake, Sadie Dorinda, who was born 12 hours before she died, and one great grandson.
