Wright Funeral Planned Friday
Wife of Prominent Attorney Dies At 48

Mrs. Camille Searcy Wright, wife of Reuben H. Wright, widely known Tuscaloosa attorney, died last night at her home in Dearing Place after an illness lasting several months. Mrs.Wright was 48 years old. She had been seriously ill since undergoing a major operation at a hospital in Memphis seven months ago.

A lifelong resident of Tuscaloosa, Mrs. Wright was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Searcy. Her father founded the old Merchants Bank and Trust Company of Tuscaloosa and served as its president. Her mother, was Mrs. Cammie Tunstall of Greensboro in Hale County. She attended the schools of Tuscaloosa and graduated from the University of Alabama. For a period of two years Mrs. Wright was a member of the faculty of the Tuscaloosa High School. She was married to Mr. Wright in April, 1923.

She was a member fo the Kettledrum Club and the Christ Episcopal Church of this city. While her health permitted, Mrs. Wright was very active in religious and social affairs of Tuscaloosa where she had a host of friends. She was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and was president of the Kappa Delta Alumni Association.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon from the Christ Episcopal Church with Dr. DuBose Murphy officiating assisted by Dr. Warner Hall.

Burial will follow in the Tuscaloosa Memorial Park by Mathis-Jones.

Surviving are the husband, one daughter, Miss Camille Searcy Wright, a recent graduate of the University of Alabama, a son, George Wright, a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, now in his second year at the institution, one brother, W. Tunstall Searcy, who is register in chancery of the circuit court, and four sisters, Mrs. J. W. Sledge of Birmingham, Mrs. Fred R. Maxwell, Jr., Mrs. George Raoul and Miss Stella Searcy all of this city. Two other sisters, Mrs. John Cochrane of Mobile and Mrs. Arthur Moody of Birmingham, are deceased.

Active pallbearers for the funeral will be J.F. Alston, Sr., Dr. Harvey Searcy, George D. Johnston, Judge W.C. Warren, S. H. Sprott, Claud Neilson, George Bliss Jones and Luther Davis.

The honorary pallbearers will be Dr. William M. Faulk; Dr. John M. Gallalee, John D. McQueen, Sr., Judge Tom B. Ward, Frank Fitts, R.H. Cochrane, Sr., Clifton H. Penick, Dr. H. C. Pannell, J. A. Duckworth, Frank Daniel, Owen Meredith, Grover Burchfield, H.M.McLeod, H.D. Billingsley, Charles Morris, Ward McFarland, Jr., T.W. Christian, Roy Faucett, W.B. Oliver and T.B. Hill, Jr.
